Stop at the Castello di Brolio, a 12th century fortification where you can take a walk around the gardens and vineyards before your first tasting of Black Rooster Chianti wines. This is where the Baron, Bettino Ricasoli, first stimulated the renewal of the areas’ agriculture and experimented with different grape varietals and blends, leading to his precious formula for making the great Chianti wine, now famous the world over for great character and drinkability (as well as the straw flasks that are no longer in use!) Visit a typical fortified town perched on top of a Chianti hill, surrounded by magnificent views, to walk the cobbled streets, admire ancient architecture or browse the town’s shops and cafés. A traditional Tuscan lunch of local products will be served at a nearby Chianti estate accompanied by a tasting of the farm’s traditional and innovative wines.
