Nobile & Brunello Wine Tour

Sangiovese at its finest

Description

Our first stop of the day is the proud old town of Montepulciano built at the top of a high hill. As well as boasting elegant churches, palaces, piazzas and imposing walls designed by famous artists of the Renaissance, Montepulciano is also among Tuscany’s oldest wine regions. Some of its Nobile di Montepulciano wine is still made and aged in cellars that have been hewn out of the ground under the city centuries ago. Spend leisure time enjoying the sites, visiting the cellars or browsing the many shops of handiworks and crafts before visiting a wine shop with a truly impressive selection of local wines, here you will receive a tasting card that will enable you to freely choose the wines you wish to sample from a wide variety of vintages and estates.

Take in the stunning landscapes of the Unesco protected Val d’Orcia territory as we make our way towards Montalcino and the world-famous wine producing area of Brunello. A wholesome lunch will be served at a family-run winery that is managed with passion and dedication. A full, traditional Tuscan lunch will be enjoyed in the company of the impressive wines and olive oil that the estate produces with care, using innovative methods and farming techniques without use of chemicals and in respect of nature.

We later arrive to Montalcino, the hilltop town that gives its name to the famous Brunello wine. Here you have the opportunity of climbing the walls of the fortress where the brave soldiers of the Republic of Siena made their last stand to Florence and the Medici. Spend time visiting the towns’ stores to taste the local honey or Brunello wines, or simply wander around the city walls taking in the incredible views overlooking the valleys and vineyards below.
Before our return to Siena, stop to tour a second, Brunello producing wine Estate to get an in-depth view at all the production phases from the vineyards, through the various fermentation and aging stages in the cellars, to the final products that will be sampled during a full-tasting.
