Chianti and San Gimignano transfer tour

Visit Tuscany's highlights and taste great wines

Description

Thoughout the day we will enjoy leisure time in San Gimignano, the hill town is a jewel of perfectly preserved medieval architecture, with its austere medieval towers that have defiantly survived the centuries. This bustling hill town still flourishes with artisanal boutiques of the local trades and stores selling the towns ‘red gold’, the saffron spice.

Visit the imposing fortress of Monteriggioni, a medieval fortress built by the Sienese in the 13th century as a bastion of defense in their wars against Florence. It withstood all attacks from both the Florentines and the forces of the Bishop of Volterra until its keys were finally handed by the town’s captain over to the Medicean forces in an act of reconciliation.

Lunch is served in a family run farm where we have the opportunity of having lunch with the locals and enjoy our first tasting of the areas products while learning of Tuscany’s habits and traditions.

After lunch we tour a Chianti Classico winery where we are walked through the process of wine production and visit the cellars to learn more about these great reds, the way they are made and the differences in flavor of various blends and grape varieties.

This tour can run from Siena to Florence as well as from Florence to Siena, with slight modifications in the order of the visits.
