Crete & Val d'Orcia, olive oil, cheese and Brunello wine tour

History, beautiful panoramas and tasty Tuscan products

Description

The day begins with a beautiful panoramic drive through the picturesque Crete Senesi landscapes. Stop in the medieval hamlet of Montisi, continue to a panoramic spot for an olive oil tasting and snack with your guide, during the autumn months it is possible to visit a functioning olive mill instead.

After spending some time visiting this beautiful hamlet and savouring the Tuscan olive oils we continue to the Val d'Orcia. The route will bring us through some of the most famous picture perfect landscapes. Arrive to the beautiful renaissance town of Pienza, rightly considered the gem of the renaissance in the Val d’Orcia. Enjoy leisure time in town to view the ancient Romanesque church of Corsignano or shopping in the town's many stores and enjoying the pretty alleys and views of this little town.

After Pienza, we make our way to a local dairy farm for a wholesome and refreshing lunch based mainly on the fresh ingredients produced on the farm. Here you can learn about the cheese making processes, visit the farms animals and learn about the lifestyle of the area. Lunch will be served on a panoramic terrace, weather permitting.

Continue to the Hill of Montalcino where the famed Brunello wine is produced. Visit a Brunello winery, tour the cellars and enjoy a tasting of this famous nectar while learning off the winemakers about the new methods of farming and winemaking before heading back to your accommodation.
