Harvest Tuscany
8 days 7 Nights
30th September to 7th October
On this week long vacation you will witness the excitement and the fun of the grape harvest, we will take part in village festivities, try the fabulous wines, cook the tasty dishes of the local cuisine and witness the beauty of Tuscany in this time of the year.
You will be sharing a beautiful and comfortable Tuscan Villa that sleeps up to 16 people, your stay in the Villa will be populated by fun activities dinners and feasts for you to enjoy with your newly made friends.
Friday 30th of September
Pick up from Siena and arrival to the Villa, dinner and presentation of the program.
Saturday 1st of October ‘FUN’
Our day begins after lunch with a visit to a small non touristy village that celebrates its grape harvest by reenacting the old festivities that are being slowly lost by the modern worlds fast pace.
Have fun amongst the locals all dressed in traditional costumes, see the young girls of the town stomp the grapes, take part in the dances to the local folk songs and enjoy the evening having dinner among the locals in the old barn of town.
Sunday 2nd of October ‘ART’
This day is dedicated to discovering the artistic beauties of Siena, we will receive a guided tour of the city in the morning and visit its incredibly intricate and refined duomo of the city and then sit down for a light lunch in the main square while learning about the history and the passion that this city has for its traditional and heartfelt horserace the ‘Palio’.
After lunch we will return to the villa for an afternoon pottery workshop where we will play with clay and paint our own pottery to take home as a souvenir of our artistic day.
Dinner served in the villa.
Monday 3rd of October ‘WINE’
This full day begins in the morning after breakfast, we will make our way to Montalcino. Here we will learn all about the great and much appreciated ‘Brunello’ wine. We will visit the beautiful and diverse area where it is produced, sit down for a delicious lunch in a small family run farm and in the afternoon, we will tour wineries and meet the makers of the wines while deepening our knowledge of this wine through the only way possible, by trying it!
Back to the villa in time for dinner.
Tuesday 4th of October ‘NATURE’
our day begins after breakfast with a trek on foot across the valley in front of the Villa towards the beautiful medieval villages of the Val di Merse, we then continue upstream towards an old medieval bridge and stop for a picnic lunch prepared for us on location.
The rest of the day will continue on from here in our minibuses, we head towards the mythical and stunning roofless abbey of San Galgano, an area rich with tales of bravery and medieval legends. We visit the church and area before heading back to the Villa for dinner.
Wednesday 5th of October ‘RELAX’
A day dedicated to one of the most important factors of any vacation, relaxing! This will be a quiet day at the Villa with massages for anyone who wishes to book one or just relaxing in front of the fire with a good glass of wine. For anyone interested there is a SPA not far away with hot thermal baths.
Thursday 6th of October ‘FOOD’
Now for Tuscany’s other big star, the food. This day is dedicated to getting to know the products and how to cook some of the tasty local dishes. We will visit some local producers and gather ingredients that will be necessary for our good bye feast cooked by ourselves in an evening cooking class.
Friday 7th of October
Transfer back to Siena.
The Itinerary may change a little according to availability but will maintain the same general imprint.
