Day of Trekking along the Via Francigena

In occasion for the 3rd day of the “Francigena walks” and “labour day” the Municipality of Monteriggioni organizes a free trek and activities at Casa Giubileo.  

A great way of spending a different day out in the fresh air of the countryside amid festivities and entertainment along your trek.  

Program for the day:
9.15 Begin in Strove (near Monteriggioni castle) Visit to the new Pilgrim hostel in Stove
9.30 Beginning of Trek (Strove, Castel Petraio-Casa al Bosco-Montauto-Casa Giubileo) Arrival in Casa Giubileo You can either bring your own packed lunch or at Casa Giubileo restaurant. We would like toremind all guests that it is forbidden to light fires in the woods.
14.00 Free theatrical show “Santi, Briganti, mercanti….e altri viandanti” with Francesco Burroni e Silvia Bruni
15.00 Departure and return to Strove   For those who would like to have lunch and see the show at Casa Giubileo without doing the trek it is possible to reach the location by car (taking the white road from Abbadia Isola)

The trek is about 10km, on dirt roads, countryside paths and parts of the original medieval cobblestone road, there is about a 300mt height difference. Comfortable clothing and shoes are advised.
