is an old medieval city in the heart of Tuscany, rich with monuments and treasures of art distinguishes itself by being still today a walled city that is almost perfectly preserved. The medieval atmosphere, the stunning Cathedral and the myriad of tight alleyways that open up onto little piazzas and churches will bring you back to the glorious past of this town.
The beautiful shell shaped Piazza del Campo, heart of Siena, where the old traditional horse race of the Palio is still kept very much alive by the city dwellers, which re-enact the feudal struggle between the city’s neighborhoods “the Contrade” twice a year. Alleys and roads fan out from the centre of The Piazza del Campo and tantalize you to explore the wonders beyond.
A classic walk around town with stops at all the monuments and the main places of interest. Includes a visit to the interior of the San Domenico basilica and house of Saint Katherine. Then crossing the fascinating alleys rich with history we will arrive to the Duomo’s baptistery and from here to the cathedral. Stop in front of the imposing Palazzo Chigi Saracini before finally arriving to the Piazza del Campo, this centre of the city’s political and social life embraces us in its shell shape. This itinerary is ideal for first comers and those who wish to get a general introduction to the town.
A tour focused on dicovering Siena's heartfelt traditions. Begin our exploration, favoring the more hidden alleyways and corners of the city. Immerse ourselves in the “contrade”, the medieval neighborhoods that break up the city. Visit the territories of these “contrade” and enter in one of their museums jealously guarding their Palio trophies. Continue away from the crowds of tourists, through ancient fountains and churches. This itinerary is ideal for people who want to come into contact with the traditions and the culture of the city.
Discover the beauty of Siena's art. Enter the impressive Town Hall, the interiors of which are decorated with many frescoes by the representatives of the Siena school of artists. Walk to the Baptistery and enter the mysterious crypt only recently discovered. Stop in front of the facade of the Cathedral to admire it in all its splendor before entering it to marvel at its floor illustrating the path of redemption. This itinerary is recommended to people who are interested in art and sculpture and want to learn more about the artistic and historic background of Siena.
Tuscany's capital and open-air exhibition of art and culture.
famous worldwide as the birthplace of the Renaissance and the home to the fine arts and literature. Florence has powerful symbols of Italian and European culture in every nook and cranny, to the extent that it is hard to identify this city with just one symbol. It may be the sculpture of David by Michelangelo, or perhaps the romantic Ponte Vecchio, or Giotto’s bell tower. Florence could also be represented by its famous people of the past from Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo to Dante Alighieri and Macchiavelli.
