Here are some of our proposals that cover the main areas of Siena:
Relaxing bike ride around
San Gimignano
Difficulty: Medium/Easy
Starting from San Gimignano, we will cross some of the most stunning and relaxing countryside filled with vineyards, and patches of forest all the while having San Gimignano’s impressive “Skyline” of towers as a backdrop. The tour is relaxing and does not have any particularly difficult roads.
Experience the postcard Tuscany
Difficulty: Medium
Ride through some of the most beautiful postcard landscapes of Tuscany, the UNESCO world heritage site of the Val d’Orcia. Stop for lunch in the historical town of Pienza a jewel of renaissance architecture. In the afternoon we will make our way to the medieval town of San Quirico d’Orcia.
The moonscapes of Siena’s crete
Difficulty: Medium
Follow some very panoramic roads that take you through the barren hills of the Crete Senesi south of the city of Siena, here you can visit some medieval villages surrounded the dramatic clay landscapes and enjoy lunch in one of the small traditional trattorias.
In the heart of Siena’s Chianti
Difficulty: Medium
Alternate bike rides on these pretty hills with frequent stops and visits of the towns which are strongly related to the Chianti Classico wine production. Here it is easy to be lured into a wine tasting, but it is recommended you wait until the end of the tour.
Rural Tuscany (Val di Merse)
Difficulty: Easy
Cycle past sunflower filled plains and stop in sleepy medieval villages for walks. During summer you can stop at a nearby river for a swim (remember to bring swimming costume and towel), then continue on dirt roads
through forests and vineyards.
Montagnola
Difficulty: Medium
Cycle through ancient forests and relaxing plains climb the hill of the montagnola and visit quaint villages, old castles and fortresses.
This itinerary brings you in contact with Siena's arboreal nature and gives you a taste of its quieter and more sparcly populated countryside.
